The Great Exodus? MySpace (-49%) vs. Facebook (+28%)

According to the latest Comscore report MySpace web traffic (users) fell from 6.5m in May 2009 to 3.3m in May 2010 – that’s a fall of 49%. This is in despite of the anticipated MySpace Music which launched in December 2009.

The past year has been a rocky period for MySpace and has seen top level staff such as UK marketing director Lindsay Nuttal and CEO Owen Van Natta leave the company.

It is no secret that social media has transformed the way fans can access music, but the fact that 49% of MySpace’s audience have left the site in 12 months must mean they are using other networks to get their music fix. So which ones?

Nine out ten of the 38.2m internet users in the UK used social media in May 2010; Comscore also reports that 79% of these (30.4m people) were logging in to Facebook.

Do you think these figures are a true representation? Have you abandoned MySpace in favour of Facebook?
