Liverpool Sound City (17th, 18th, 19th May 2012) take what they call “the best in 21st century pop/tech culture and present it alongside the newest, most forward thinking ways of doing business, creating a forum for people to talk, think, learn and grow.”
The 3 day music business conference, showcase event first appeared in 2007 as a UK Northwest showcase event in SXSW, Austin. Then in 2008 it moved to Liverpool during the Capital of Culture year, and the rest as they say is history.
You should definitely head over to their website to discover everything thats’ going on this weekend from Festival, Conference to Expo but for now here’s our One’s to Watch..
Thursday 17th (10.45 – 11.45)
The LSC Round Table Sessions
The roundtables give exclusive access to a host of Sound City keynotes and businesses: part talking shop, part networking event, part a chance to engage in interesting, topical and, hopefully, fun debate. It’s also a chance to put forward your ideas and opinions in a relaxed environment with a group of like-minded souls and meet some amazing new contacts.
Thursday 17th (13.45 – 14.45)
The LSC Digital Marketing Panel
A discussion about the REAL music marketing – what works, what doesn’t, where people constantly go wrong and what people can do to change it all. Ignore the PR and bullshit out there – the reality is perhaps less glamorous but infinitely more useful. So listen and learn.
Thursday 17th (17.00 – 18.00)
The LSC Social Media Surgery
Don’t pretend you’re all experts when it comes to social media – even the most RT/MT/DM savvy of us need a little tune-up every once in a while – and this is where this panel comes in: a selection of honest to goodness experts in the field, talking the talk and helping you all walk the walk. Questions will be answered, mistakes revealed and useful advice given by the ton.Simon is the Director of Music Services at independent music publisher Sentric Music where he drives the sync side of the business overseeing music being placed in adverts & TV programmes worldwide.
Friday 18th (10.45 – 11.45)
The LSC Sync Panel
A transatlantic themed session, with experts from both sides of the pond to fill you in on how to find that elusive sync deal or that new, unknown piece of music from the other side of the Atlantic. Are there deals to be done? And what do you need to know to make them happen?
Friday 18th (13.15 – 15.15)
The PPL Open Sessions for Artists
The session will be open to all LSC and local artists. There will be plenty of opportunity to engage with PPL during a Q & A session and the networking drinks that will take place afterwards. The event is open to all artists, including those not registered for Sound City and will also include networking drinks.
Friday 18th (15.00 – 16.00)
The LSC / Create Musicians Panel in Association with the Musicians’ Union
We all want to know how to get more gigs, which competitions are legit’, who to keep in with, when to use artist submission sites, how to build a fanbase, when to start touring nationally, where to find an agent, and how to make money from playing live. Our panel of live experts will share their experiences – good and bad – of working in the live industry.
