World’s biggest ad agency blocks 2000 ‘pirate’ sites

Advertising giant GroupM will stop buying advertising space on more than 2,000 global sites said to offer pirated or unlicensed content. The blacklist, assembled with help from key entertainment clients, includes The Pirate Bay and KickassTorrents, but also features legitimate download sites such as BitTorrent Inc and business file-sharing tools such as YouSendIt.

Lost Arts will record all of the projects, initiatives and organisations that will be lost due to the cuts in public funding for the Arts. The website will also keep a running total of the money lost to the Arts, the money lost to the Treasury and the number of jobs at risk.

BPI and Musicians’ Union unveil new agreement

Musicians and commissioning record labels will now sign a simple one-page ‘Session Agreement’ for studio recordings, or a ‘Live Recording Agreement’ for concert recordings, to accept the terms of the New BPI & MU Agreement. Musicians then receive a session fee, any additional fees (e.g. for playing more than one instrument) and a potential subsequent payment administered centrally by the MU.
